This is a good one, y’all! Enough of those challenges where you look like a duck, shake your bum like its the Energizer Bunny, run alongside cars as they’re moving, or whatever else. That stuff is fun, sure, but where’s the substance in that? How does it really benefit society or even yourselves? Everybody says they love nature and animals. They post pictures of trees and flowers and all that.
In 2022 and beyond, why not challenge yourselves and others to something big-time? Leave your mark in brighter ways. Sure, it may not be as cool but cool is what you make of it! So, of course we all want to be carbon-neutral but it seems like such a huge feat. It isn’t really. It starts with you and it starts small. The result? A better Her (Earth) for them (kids).
I CHALLENGE YOU TO PICK UP LITTER WHEREVER YOU GO. IF FOR SOME REASON THAT IS TOO MUCH, PICK A SPOT. ONE SPOT THAT YOU LOVE, THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL IT DESERVES TO STAY THAT WAY. ONE SPOT THAT LOOKS SO FAR GONE IT NEEDS MORE THAN JUST A LITTLE LOVE. ONE SPOT THAT YOU ALWAYS WENT TO AS A KID THAT YOU REMINISCE ABOUT. PICK ONE AND STAY DEDICATED TO THAT SPOT. MAKE SURE IT’S CLOSEBY AS YOU’LL GO THERE REGULARLY. EVERY TIME YOU GO, BRING YOUR PLASTIC GARBAGE BAG, GLOVES, AND LITTER STICK AND GET LITTER-PICKER-UPPING! RECYCLE WHAT YOU CAN AND DISPOSE OF WHAT YOU CAN’T PROPERLY.
Remember these words and lessons we were all taught at a young age: reduce, reuse then recycle, leave no trace, and carry-in carry-out. It is our responsibility to be stewards to the environment. This is our home, the only home we’ve ever known. Without it, we wouldn’t be here. Without it, we wouldn’t be left breathless so often as long as we take the time to slow down and smell the roses and admire the thorns. We as humans may be bigger or smarter or wiser or whatever….but we aren’t better. Since we know that, let’s do our part.
Pick your spot and keep it beautiful. If you can’t do it for them (kids), do it for Her (Earth).
